The course instructors have worked hard to build a highly integrated series of five 8-hour sessions. While each teaches their area of expertise, their case studies, examples, and experiential-learning components enhance one another.
Jill Critchfield, PHR, is a professional human resources consultant. Through her business, Pacific HR, she has worked since 1999 with over 100 small and mid-size businesses in Portland, Oregon. She earned her Professional Human Resources certification from the Human Resources Certification Institute and has been a member of the Society of Human Resources Management since 1997. She sits on the Small Business Advisory Council for the City of Portland and is a board member for the East Portland Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Critchfield has shared her expertise in a variety of training programs with topics such as HR issues for small business, discipline and discharge for small business, HR issues for office managers, hot topics in human resources, and supervising employees.
Bob Hanks has worked in management, consulting, education, training, and public service for over 25 years. Blending his education and training background with his corporate experience, he has taught hundreds of management, leadership, and supervision courses. Mr. Hanks has a working knowledge of mid-management challenges from 17 years at Southland Corporation (7-Eleven food stores) in operations, training, and information systems. He has taught at Portland-area and online universities, as well as internationally. His consulting company focuses on operational issues such as budget and expense controls, customer service programs, and human resources planning. He is an active community member involved in local economic development and chamber of commerce organizations.
Andy Job, EdD, has over 25 years experience in education, training, and management. He has worked in higher education as a director of admissions and a resident director in college student services. He was employed for 12 years by a Fortune 500 company, where he held positions in human resources at the corporate level. Dr. Job also served as the campus director and vice president at a private for-profit university. In addition to working as a consultant in the areas of organizational behavior, adult learning, and training and development, he is an adjunct instructor at a number of local universities and has received several awards for his work. He has an MS in postsecondary, adult, and continuing education, and certificates in human resource management and training management from Portland State University, where he also earned his doctorate in educational leadership.
